Description
Organic Tempeh is so easy to make vegan “bacun” from as it readily absorbs any flavours you choose to marinate it in. It’s a easy way to add in some protein and it’s a great source of iron too. I’ve served this to many friends and family members that are not vegan and they loved it!!
Ingredients
1 – 227 g (8 oz.) organic tempeh
1/4 cup soy sauce substitute or tamari
4 tablespoons pure maple syrup
3/4 tablespoons liquid smoke
1 tablespoon water
Instructions
Cut tempeh into strips. Steam sliced tempeh pieces for 10 minutes to remove all bitter taste from the tempeh. Whisk all marinade ingredients and place strips in glass container with marinade for 6 -8 hours or overnight. Use avocado oil to begin frying strips. Gradually add marinade to frying pan to cook tempeh. Fry both sides until deep golden brown. All the marinade will disappear and be absorbed by the strips. Remove from pan and place on paper towel to absorb any extra oil.
