One of those extras I don’t mind paying for at a restaurant is a good guacamole. I don’t think I have ever ordered a veggie burger or a burrito bowl without it. Avocado is the main ingredient in guacamole and it is sometimes misunderstood as being a “bad” fat, but it really is very healthy. According to the American Heart Association avocado can actually help decrease bad cholesterol.

There are so many recipes out there, but I still like the simple classic guacamole and here is mine:
- Place two ripe avocados peeled and pitted in a small blender.
- Add one large garlic clove
- Juice of half a lemon or lime (or combination of both is lovely)
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
Mix all ingredients together until blended as you like.
