CHEWY CHOCOLATE SESAME SQUARES

If you love the combination of toasted sesame seeds and chocolate then you will fall in love with this square.  So chewy and bursting with flavour you can’t possibly eat just one.

Preheat oven to 350F

Prepare flaxseed eggs by mixing ground flaxseed and water.  Let sit for 15 minutes to gel.

Prepare sesame seeds:

Spread sesame seeds on a lined baking sheet.  Bake for 5 minutes.  Stir well and bake for another 5 minutes until toasted.  Set aside.

In large bowl, beat sugar, nut butter, butter and eggs until smooth.   Stir in flour, 1/3 of toasted sesame seeds, cinnamon, baking soda and salt until well combined.

Sprinkle 1/3 of the toasted sesame seeds on bottom of lined 8 x 8” baking pan.  Place dollops of dough on top of the sesame seeds carefully so as to not to disturb the sesame seeds too much.

Spread and press dough evenly in pan.  Sprinkle with remainder of sesame seeds.

Bake for 25 – 30 minutes.  The dough should appear to be pulling away from the sides of the pan.

Cool completely before removing from pan.  Cut into 16 squares.

Drizzle:

Microwave chocolate chips and nut butter until chocolate has melted, approximately 1 minute.  Stir until smooth.

Drizzle over squares and place in refrigerator for 30 minutes for drizzle to set.

Store in sealed container.
