EASY APPLE CRISP

Apple crisp is one of those desserts that fills the entire house with such a comforting aroma and reminds us that fall is close by.  I love using Cortland apples to bake any of my apple recipes because they are so juicy and not too tart.  If you enjoy a tarter apple then Granny Smith can be added to this recipe.  Its flavour is heightened when used with other sweeter apples.  I enjoy my apple crisp warm with a big serving of French vanilla ice cream on top.  Pass that over here please!!

Place apple mixture in bowl and mix until apples are well coated with sugar and spices.  Pour mixture into 8” x 8” pan.

Measure out topping ingredients, except butter, into same bowl.  Mix well.   Add butter and use a fork or your hands to work it into oat mixture until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.

Sprinkle topping over apple mixture evenly.  Cover with foil and place pan on a cooking sheet.   Bake in oven for approximately 45 – 50 minutes.  Remove foil and continue baking for another 10 minutes until edges appear slightly golden.

Serve this with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  Heaven!
